With the holiday season coming up fast, it’s a great time to start thinking about home scents and handmade gifts. Scented wax melts (also called tarts) are a wonderful option for adding natural aroma to your home – perfect for sprucing up your place before company comes over. Aromatherapy Wax Melts are also a great way to help you cope with this lovely (but sometimes challenging) time of year.
Aromatherapy Wax Melts are extremely easy to make and to use. You can use any combination of natural aromatic ingredients to scent your tarts. Our favorites are Essential Oils, Absolutes, and aromatic CO2 Extracts. Just be sure to check any essential oils for counter-indications before use. Some essential oils can aggravate certain medical conditions, so it’s important to make sure the oils you are using are safe for everyone in your household. You can learn more about Essential Oil Safety at Naha.org.
We used plain Beeswax to make our Aromatherapy Wax Melts, but soy wax is another popular ingredient to use as a base. Some artisans prefer blending soy wax and/or refined coconut oil into their melts to help them melt more quickly. While beeswax melts will take longer to melt, they generally throw scent better and last longer than soy based melts.
