After my last post I was inspired to take my own advice. I plucked a ripe, red apple from my fruit bowl, gathered some complimentary ingredients, and set to work on a new fresh face mask recipe.
Apple Granola Face Mask
Ingredients
One half of a fresh apple (chopped)
2 tablespoons Colloidal Oatmeal, Coarse
1 tablespoon Honey Powder
1 tablespoon Buttermilk Powder
1 tablespoon Oat Starch
Directions
Puree the apple in a blender or food processor. Add other ingredients and puree once more. The consistency should be that of a thick liquid.
Packaging & Usage
Apply one to two tablespoons of mixture to your face, avoiding eyes. Leave mask on for ten to fifteen minutes then rinse away. The extra mask can be stored and in an air tight container in the refrigerator for three to five days. As with all fresh recipes, keep an eye on your mask. If it changes color, odor, or texture, or if you simply suspect is has gone bad, please discard it immediately.

Cool, but where in the world do you buy honey powder?

Thank you for visiting The Natural Beauty Workshop, and for your interest in our Apple Granola Face Mask. Honey Powder is a spray dried, natural honey. It can be found online at the following link:

Honey Powder can sometimes also be found in local health food stores. If you cannot find Honey Powder, you can also try using this recipe with regular honey instead.

This recipe could certainly be used on acne prone skin. It could also be used with other skin types, as it is an all around healthful formula that provides a little exfoliation, skin brightening, and moisture.

hiya, recipe sounds wonderful, was wondering what the shelf life would be if i made then as gifts at christmas?
The Natural Beauty Workshop says
Hi Sarah. This recipe wouldnt be ideal for packaging. Since it uses fresh ingredients, it should be used up right away. If youd like to make something more suitable for gifts, consider making a dry facial mixture using ingredients like oat flour, honey powder, kaolin clay, and milk powder. The dry ingredients can be wetted with water, plain yogurt, or milk when its time for them to be used. You can even mix in a few drops of essential oil into the dry powders if you like.

Hi,
Is there a vegan substitute for honey powder that has the same sticky feel?
Thank you,
Lily
Kelly Owens says
Hello Lily! You can try swapping out the honey powder for our Fine Rice Powder or Rice Bran Powder, Fine Grain. The fresh apple and oat starch should still provide that sticky feel you are looking for.
