Bolivian Pink Salt is one of our newest products. The first thing you notice about Bolivian Pink Salt is how beautiful it is. The granules almost remind you of powdered Rose Quartz. In fact, this salt is also known as Bolivian Rose Salt. It is slightly translucent, crystalline, and a lovely, natural shade of pink. It is available in two grain sizes. The Fine Bolivian Pink Salt is similar in size to table salt, while the Coarse grain is more similar to our Medium Sea Salt, measuring between 4mm and 6mm.
But Bolivian Pink Salt is more than just a pretty variety of sodium chloride. This salt is rich in essential and trace minerals such as Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium and Iron. Much like Dead Sea Salt, Bolivian Pink Salt is known to have restorative abilities. It can help to benefit skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, improve skin tone and condition, increase circulation, and draw toxins from the skin. It also makes a superb exfoliant in scrubs, soaps and body treatments.

This pink salt is fabulous. I may have to try it in one of my bath salts.
Emmy says
That sounds like a great idea. I think naturally colored salts make beautiful bath salts.

Is there one type of salt that is better than others when making a body scrub? Dendritic, Breton, Himalayan or Peruvian pink? Obviously you would want a larger grain of salt but there are so many from different areas.

This will make a delightful bath salt and I can store it in a pretty glass jar to match my bathroom.
Emmy says
That sounds like a great idea, Fanta. I sometimes keep bail jars in my bathroom to store and display salts, milk baths, or bath powders. I love how it looks, and it’s nice to have it close by for a quick bath.

Thanks again for another great question, Cassandra. The type of salt that you choose for a scrub depends on three things: the grain size, the color and appearance, and any beneficial properties that a salt might have. Bolivian Pink Salt, for instance, has a very high mineral content, which may be beneficial to the skin. There are also many other salts that boast a high mineral content. Dead Sea Salt is another good example. Each salt has its own unique appearance as well, which will affect the look of your final product. I wouldn’t say any salt is really better than another. They are just different!
I recently posted an article on salt scrubs that you might find interesting. Feel free to check it out.

I have a frequent user of Bath Salts, so I decided to try to make my own. I gathered information on how to make your own bath salts…. and ordered many salts from may different suppliers (as well as essential oils). After trying many I would have to say the Salts from “From Nature with Love” as well as the essential oils are the BEST! They are the most natural in appreance as well as texture.. The essential oils are truely heavenly!! I soak in these salts every night.. each night with a different uplifting / or soothing sent. Thank you so much … I love your products!!

I’m so happy to hear that you have had such a great experience ordering from us. I am also a big fan of bath salts. The simple addition of salt and essential oil to an everyday bath, really takes the experience to another level. Now, I never take a bath without adding some of my own “goodies”.

Great! But I have to be a bit weary on the comparison to Dead Sea salt since the salt got its therapeutic properties from its sea water. Maybe I just haven’t heard of that place.
Emmy says
That’s a great point, Gabriel!
Bolivian Pink Salt actually originated from sea water as well. However, the ancient sea water in which this salt originates has long since gone dry. The sea salt deposits were later covered in a layer of volcanic lava, burying the mineral rich salt for ages.
What makes this salt comparable to the salt found in the Dead Sea is its high mineral content. However, the exact makeup of the two kinds of salt are, of course, unique. While they both contain beneficial properties that stem from their mineral content, these properties will almost certainly be different.
