There is little doubt that by now you have heard the many charms of the fruit that has become the new "it-girl" of the produce section. With its exotic looks, intense flavor, and bounty of beneficial antioxidants, it's no wonder that the pomegranate has received so much attention. The daily consumption of pomegranate juice has been said to ward off everything from cancer to heart disease. While drinking pomegranate juice is undeniably healthful, the extent of its nutritional powers are of course, up for debate. The juice's wealth of antioxidants are believed to be responsible for it's nutritional benefits.
These components also make Pomegranate Seed Oil a healthful choice for cosmetic formulations. The antioxidant value has been proven to be beneficial when used topically. Some studies have even reported Pomegranate Seed Oil to have destroyed cancer cells. The oil is golden, rich in fatty acids, and extremely skin nourishing. It is especially helpful in mature skin and anti-aging formulations due to its ability to moisturize and improve skin elasticity. Pomegranate Seed Oil is also a popular ingredient in high end baby care items. The high antioxidant value gives it a natural anti-inflammatory effect, making it an ideal choice for sensitive skin as well.

I was just curiouse, how pomegranate seed oil is extracted? Like Grape Seeds, the seeds are so small.

High quality Pomegranate Seed Oil is often extracted using the “Cold Press” method. Cold press is a form of expeller pressing, in which a mechanical process presses the nut, seed, or kernel to extract the oil. In classic expeller pressing, a high amount of heat may be used to help extract the oil. However, in cold press extraction, the temperature is controlled in order to preserve the oil in its most natural state.
Another high quality method for extracting Pomegranate Seed Oil is CO2 extraction. This method is very interesting! The nuts, seeds, or plant materials are extracted using the pressure of Carbon Dioxide. When the extraction is complete, the gas is removed from the chamber, leaving behind a completely pure material. CO2 is now used to create extracts and oils from a huge variety of fragile and organic plants, including Pomegranate Seed Oil.

Hello Vimala, In order for this oil to be considered cold pressed, the production temperature cannot exceed 120 degrees Fahrenheit. As for the cleansing of the seeds, most manufacturers have industrial sieves that either vibrate or rotate to remove impurities from the seeds.
