Creative packaging can add a sense of individuality and fun to handmade skin care products. A simple bar of soap, for example, makes a great canvas to display some creative flair. Soap Wings are a fun twist on the classic cigar band technique of packaging. Fun shapes are hand cut into thick paper such as construction paper or card stock, giving each bar of soap a unique, handmade appearance. You can use the shapes from our templates in the tutorial below, or invent your own wing patterns. This technique can also be used with other symmetrical shapes such as Christmas trees, hearts, stars, or even cupcakes! These adorable packages are great for party favors, stocking stuffers, or other special gifts.

I’m glad you enjoyed the Soap Wings Tutorial. Wrapping a book with the wings is a great idea! I bet the same concept would be a lovely way to wrap baby blankets as well, or pretty much any thing you could fit a band around!

This is so cute! I am already planning on making some soap for Valentines Day (got too overwhelmed to do it for Christmas) and am totally going to try this. Thanks!
