With its soothing properties and rich silica content, Oat Straw Powder makes an excellent addition to both hair and skin products. When used in shampoos, hair conditioners, rinses, and hair masks, Oat Straw imparts a softness and shine that your hair will love. It can also soothe itchy or irritated scalps. In skin care products, Oat Straw acts as a calming agent, making it great for sensitive skin formulations.
When infused into water or oil, Oat Straw Powder releases a deep green color into the infusion. It is so potent, that it can even be used to color both melt & pour and cold or hot process soaps. The Powdered Herb is great for creating oil or water infusions, bath teas, hair masks, or facials. Oat Straw is also available as a Powdered Extract. The water dispersible extract can be used to impart Oat Straw properties into almost any water based formula. It works very well in shampoos, skin creams, lotions, and conditioners. Oat Straw Powdered Extract will not, however, add any noticeable color to a formula.

How do I use Oat straw powder in lotion or MP soap?
Emmy Gabriel says
Hi Soyoung. Oatstraw powder can be added directly to MP soaps at a rate of up to 1 tablespoon per pound of soap base. To make sure the powder mixes in evenly, without clumping, try mixing it with a small amount of water or carrier oil before adding it to the melted base. The powder will impart a strong green color in the soap. To add Oatstraw Powder to lotion, its best to infuse the herb into the oils or waters of the recipe. To make an infusion, add 1 tablespoon of powder per ounce of liquid, then heat in a double boiler for 20 – 40 minutes. Strain the solids from the infusion, and discard them. Since Oatstraw Powder is very fine, it is best to use a fine mesh strainer and/or a cheese cloth to strain the infusion. You can also use Oat Straw Tops to make an infusion. Use the infused oil and/or water in your lotion recipe as you would any other oil or water.
