This deliciously fragrant Lip Balm uses all natural ingredients to create an intense coffee experience. Coffee Butter, and Roasted Coffee Oil are combined with moisturizing Hazelnut Oil and Beeswax to make a lip balm that coffee lovers will adore.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces Coffee Butter
- 1 ounce Roasted Coffee Oil
- 1/2 ounce Hazelnut Oil
- 2 ounces Beeswax
- 1 teaspoon Lecithin
Directions
In a double boiler, melt the Beeswax completely, followed by the Coffee Butter. Once these ingredients have melted completely, add the Hazelnut Oil and Roasted Coffee Oil, and remove the mixture from heat. Add the Liquid Lecithin, and stir well to combine. Carefully pour the mixture into Lip Balm Tubes, reserving a small amount of the mixture to top off the tubes after they have cooled slightly. As the Lip Balms cool, the tops will sink slightly, leaving an indentation. Reheat the remaining Lip Balm mixture and carefully refill the tubes, giving them a smooth, even appearance. Allow the Lip Balms to cool completely before capping or moving them.
Usage & Packaging
Apply Double Java Lip Balm to dry lips whenever the mood strikes you. This moisturizing, aromatic Lip Balm can be used alone, or under your favorite lipstick to provide a layer of moisture. They look great in our Lip Balm Tubes, but can also be packaged in Jars.

Thank you so much for this formula, Emmy!
I once saw the photo on your flickr site but could not find the recipe here on the blog. I’m glad you posted it now. I like to create some themed lines of products with typical ingredients from different parts of the world. The ‘Skincare From Around the World’ part on your website is very inspirational. But to make really good formulas yourself is not that easy and asks in depth knowledge of properties of ingredients and the art of combining them in the best percentages. So I’m always grateful for ready to make formulas! This one sounds and looks delicious. Zala

Im so glad you like the recipe. I hope you have a great time making it. These lip balms were a favorite of my husband. He is a real coffee lover, so he became pretty addicted to this lip balm. Thanks so much for making use of our recipes, and our Skin Care From Around the World feature. Its great to know these resources are being enjoyed.
Thanks again for stopping by the blog, Zala. I hope well hear from you again soon!

Do you need to preserve lip balms? If so what would you suggest using?
Emmy Gabriel says
Since most Lip Balm recipes dont contain water or any other particularly fragile ingredients, they dont usually include a preservative. However, some formulators do choose to add an antioxidant to Lip Balm recipes in order to help keep the oils and butters involved from oxidizing, or going rancid prematurely. Antioxidant ingredients include Rosemary Oil Extract and Vitamin E T50 or Vitamin E T80. For Lip Balms, I prefer Vitamin E T50, as it has very little color or aroma, and will not affect a recipes appearance, scent, or texture very much when it is added. Heres a link to Vitamin E T50s product page: http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/product.asp?product_id=OILVITAMINEsearchflag=1

Hello – How many lip balm tubes will this recipe make?
thank you –
Emmy Gabriel says
Hi Mollie. Im sorry I dont have a note from the last time I made a batch of these up, but according to my calculations, this recipe should fill around 30 lip balm tubes (give or take one or two). You may want to have a few extra lip balm tubes on hand just in case.
lyn says
Hi, can I substitute the beeswax to candelilla wax in this recipe? thanks
Emmy Gabriel says
Hi Lyn. You can certainly use Candelilla in place of Beeswax for this recipe. Just keep in mind that Candelilla is a harder than Beeswax, so you may need to either use a little less wax, or add a little more oil/butter.

For allergies…what can you use in place of the hazelnut oil?
Andee @ TheSage says
This looks yummy! I’m a fan of coffee lip balms and actually remember to use them!
The Natural Beauty Workshop says
Thanks, Andee! We’re glad you liked the recipe. I love a yummy lip balm too. These remind me of coffee ice cream!
The Natural Beauty Workshop says
Hi Minnie. You can replace any lightweight Carrier Oil for the Hazelnut Oil in this recipe. Try something like Apricot Kernel Oil or Fractionated Coconut Oil.
