Body masks are a great way to cleanse and detoxify the often neglected skin on your arms, legs, and torso. Just like a facial mask, deep cleansing ingredients are used to help mobilize toxins, draw out clogged pores, and increase skin's circlation. Ginger and Fennel are both great at helping get blood flowing, which can lead to reduced cellulite, and healthy, clear skin. Dead Sea Mud is packed with beneficial minerals, making it a great base for a body mask. If Dead Sea Mud is too intense for your skin, try using a gentle clay, like White Kaolin.
This recipe will make a hefty portion of mask, enough to massage genlty all over your body. It's best when used fresh, but you can store any extra in your refrigerator for two to three days.
Ginger & Fennel Body Mask
Makes enough for 1 – 2 applications
- 1 pound Dead Sea Mud
- 1/4 cup Fennel Powder
- 1/4 cup Ginger Root Powder
- 1/4 cup Organic Irish Moss Powder
- 2 tablespoons Brazil Nut Oil
- 10 drops Juniper Essential Oil
- 10 drops Fennel Essential Oil
- 10 drops Ginger Essential Oil
- 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- Clary Sage Hydrosol or Cistus Hydrosol, as needed
- Neroli Hydrosol, as needed
Combine the Dead Sea Mud, Fennel Powder, Ginger, Powder, and Irish Moss Powder in a mixing bowl, and mash together. Add the Brazil Nut Oil and mix as well as you can. Pour in a little Clary Sage Hydrosol and stir again. Continue adding the Hydrosol a little at a time until the mixture forms a smooth paste. Add the Essential Oils, and stir well to combine all the ingredients evenly.
Apply generously to clean, moistened skin. Avoid sensitive areas, including the face and bikini. Massage the mixture in gentle circles as you apply it the the skin. Allow the mask to dry for about 10 minutes, then wipe away with a damp cloth. Rinse with warm water to remove any mask residue, then towel dry. Spritz or dab your skin with a light coating of Neroli Hydrosol, then follow with your favorite moisturizer.
