Hydrosols are truly remarkable ingredients. With their gentle properties, mild aromas, and delicate natures they can add beauty and benefits to a huge variety of natural skin and hair care formulations. Almost any formulation that calls for water can benefit from the inclusion of Hydrosol. Try using them in your creams, lotions, facials, toners, and rinses to add natural aroma and herbal benefits.
When we added seven new products to our line of Organic Hydrosols I couldn’t wait to try them out. I was especially curious about the Hydrosols I had not experienced before. Organic Rose Hip, Lime, Cornflower, Cucumber, and Douglas Fir Hydrosols were brand new to me, and I was immediately impressed with the potency and complexity of their aromas.
Organic Calendula Hydrosol
The sweet and earthy scent of Organic Calendula Hydrosol brings to mind cozy cups of herbal tea and hand-tied bouquets of dried flowers. A classic ingredient for herbal medicine and skin care, Calendula is often used in formulations created to soothe and calm irritated or itchy skin.
Organic Lime Hydrosol
Our Organic Lime Hydrosol has a bright and beautiful aroma. The scent first struck me as sweet and candy-like but after my second or third sniff I detected an earthy, herbacious undertone with a tiny pinch of bitter zest. This refreshing aroma is fabulous on its own but it also blends beautifully with florals and herbs. Because Organic Lime Hydrosol is steam-distilled it doesn’t carry the photo-toxicity concerns often associated with citrus-based ingredients. That means you can include it in body lotions, facial toners, or pretty much any skin care formulation you like!
Organic Douglas Fir Hydrosol
Our Organic Douglas Pine Hydrosol is very mellow, sporting a mild and down-to-earth woodsy scent that isn’t at all overpowering. It blends beautifully with florals, citrus, and herbs. Try adding it to cleansers, toners, lotions, and aromatherapy blends geared toward focus, clarity, and meditation.
Organic Cucumber Hydrosol
The lush, bright green aroma of our Organic Cucumber Hydrosol is simply delightful. While the scent of fresh cucumber is famously mellow, the aroma of Organic Cucumber Hydrosol is surprisingly pungent – drawing the intensity of its smell from the vegetables bold green peel. Organic Cucumber Hydrosol can be used as-is as a toner, spritzer, or body spray, or it can be blended with florals, citrus, or herbal aromatics. Try using Organic Cucumber Hydrosol in lotions, facials, and creams too!
Organic Cornflower Hydrosol
A popular ingredient in herbal medicine and skin care, cornflower also makes a gorgeous Hydrosol! Our Organic Cornflower Hydrosol has a very mild aroma with a slightly floral and herbacious aroma. This delicate Hydrosol can be used as a wetting agent for facial masks, in facial toners, or in the water phase of body lotions or facial creams.
Organic Rose Hip Hydrosol
When opening a bottle of Organic Hydrosol one might expect to smell something akin to roses. While roses boast a classic and unforgettable floral aroma, rose hips smell quite different. True to the nature of the plant, Organic Rosehip Hydrosol is not at all floral. In fact, it’s aroma is actually much closer to that of a tomato than a rose – bursting with a bright and fruity yet slightly sweet and sour aroma . Rose hips are extremely popular for use in skin care products – especially formulations made to benefit mature skin. This makes Organic Rosehip Hydrosol an excellent choice for formulating products like skin creams, facial masques, and toners.
Organic Elderflower Hydrosol
The elderflower has been cherished by herbalists and natural skin care formulators for ages. These tiny flowers produce a unique aroma that comes across in our Organic Elderflower Hydrosol as slightly sweet and honeylike with a touch of bitter wood. This beautiful and delicate ingredient is a versatile ingredient for personal care formulation and can be included in a wide range of products including toners, facials, lotions, and creams.
