Jasmine and Shea Massage Balm: A fragrant semi-solid balm for massage
Jasmine makes an incredibly pleasant main ingredient for massage formulations. The deep, musky floral scent inspires both relaxation and romance. We blended jasmine with sweet orange and warm peppercorn and sandalwood to give our Jasmine Shea Massage Balm a truly unique and memorable scent. The combination of light, moisturizing carrier oils helps the massage balm glide easily over the skin.
The moisturizing carrier oils in our Jasmine Shea Massage Balm absorb easily into the skin. This means your skin will be nicely conditioned after massage instead of greasy or sticky. A tiny portion of beeswax and floral wax help to thicken the texture of this massage balm. The result is a semi-solid texture that melts instantly upon contact with the skin.
You can easily customize this massage balm by swapping out the essential oils for any blend you prefer. Be sure to check out our entire selection of Floral Waxes for some extra inspiration!
About the Ingredients
Organic Nilotica Shea Butter
An extra soft and creamy variety of shea, our Organic Nilotica Shea Butter is an absolute treat for dry skin! Nilotica Shea Butter is rich in vitamin e and essential fatty acids – all components noted for conditioning and moisturizing dry skin.
Brazil Nut Oil
This ultra-light carrier oil is rich in omega 6 and 9 fatty acids, making it an excellent moisturizer. The non-greasy texture of Brazil Nut Oil makes it a superb ingredient for a massage balm.
Organic Flax Seed Oil
Our Organic Flax Seed Oil is highly emollient and brings a rich, medium-thick texture to the massage balm. Flax Seed Oil is rich in omega 3, which makes it an excellent choice for soothing dry or irritated skin.
Sweet Almond Oil
A classic natural skin care ingredient, our Organic Virgin Sweet Almond Oil is a cold-pressed treat for dry and itchy skin. Sweet Almond Oil slides over the skin with ease and absorbs quickly with a pleasant, non-greasy slip.
Beeswax
A small pinch of beeswax is used to thicken the massage balm, giving it a jelly-like texture. If you would prefer to use a plant-based ingredient, try swapping the beeswax in our massage balm recipe for Candelilla Wax.
Jasmine Floral Wax
This thick, creamy wax is made from jasmine flower petals using a solvent extraction process. The solid plant waxes found in jasmine flowers yield a subtle, but captivating aroma of natural jasmine. Jasmine Floral Wax can be used to enhance lotions, creams, balms, or solid perfumes as well.
Jasmine Sambac Select CO2 Extract
Our Jasmine Sambac Select CO2 Extract is a pure, potent, and utterly amazing example of the beloved flower it is made from. CO2 extraction allows for the creation of an incredibly pungent, and unadulterated aroma. The rich floral aroma of our Jasmine Sambac Select CO2 Extract simply sings in scented formulations.
Sweet Orange Essential Oil
A splash of Sweet Orange Essential Oil lightens and brightens the aroma of our Jasmine Shea Massage Balm. Citrus makes a lovely compliment to the musky scents of jasmine and sandalwood which prevail in our massage balm recipe.
Pink Peppercorn Essential Oil
Pink Peppercorn Essential Oil has a warm, spicy aroma, and is believed to add multiple benefits to massage formulations. The abundance of monoterpenes present in pink peppercorn make it extra special!
Organic Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood Essential Oil
While traditional sources for sandalwood are dwindling, our responsibly produced Organic Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood Essential Oil remains a sustainable resource. The magnificent trees that are used to produce our Organic Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood Essential Oil thrive in Hawaii where they are managed by a reputable family-owned forestry organization.
