In Ayurvedic Massage, Brahmi Oil is used to revitalize the senses while easing tension and anxiety. Brahmi Oil is said to improve memory, promote intelligence and brain function, as well as provide deeper, more restful sleep. While massage alone boasts many of these benefits, adding Brahmi Oil to a massage blend may enhance the overall experience.
Bramhi Oil is composed primarily of Sesame Oil. This light, moisturizing oil has been infused with Brahmi and Spikenard Extracts, creating a potent ingredient for massage and skin care. This infused oil makes a beneficial addition to the bath. Especially useful before bed, Brahmi Oil can strongly aid in relaxation. Brahmi Oil can be added directly to bath water, incorporated into a bath salt mixture, or it can be mixed with an equal portion of the synthetic emulsifer, Polysorbate 20 to make it water dispersible.
This herbal infused oil is also thought to help improve scalp condition, decreasing dandruff and dry, flaky skin. Brahmi Oil can be added to hair treatments, conditioners, and shampoos. Scalp massages using Brahmi Oil are another popular way to incorporate this Ayurvedic Oil into a hair care routine. Apply warm Brahmi Oil to the roots of the hair and gently massage to stimulate and revitalize the scalp. This practice may also help to relieve minor insomnia.

Hi:
I have a client who is a therapeutic massage therapist. I think that he would be interested in a massage oil blend using this oil.
Is there a recipe you could recommend (e.g., other oils that would work well with this oil)?
Kind Regards,
Erin

Brahmi Oil does make a great massage ingredient. It can be blended with any standard carrier oil, such as Fractionated Coconut Oil, Sesame Oil, Sunflower Oil, or Watermelon Seed Oil. Another additive that may compliment Bramhi’s ability to induce relaxation would be Argan Oil. You can read more about this unique oil here:

Are there any warnings, like allergies, with the use of this oil?
Emmy says
As far as I know, Brahmi is not known to cause allergic reactions, however, everyone’s body chemistry is different, therefore the potential for a negative reaction to any herb is always a possibility. If allergies are a concern, try performing a patch test with this oil before using it freely. The other components in the Brahmi Oil that is currently carried by FromNatureWithLove.com are Sesame Oil and Spikenard Extract. If you have known sensitivities to either of those ingredients than you should avoid Brahmi Oil.

If making a massage oil with both Argan oil and Brahmi oil – how much of each of the oils would I add to 16 oz of carrier oil? Do the oils have a strong smell to them? Would I want to also add an essential oil?
Thanks for any help

Argan has a very strong orange color, and slight, nutty aroma. Brahmi ranges in color from gold to brown and tends to have a slightly oat-like or herbaceous type scent. They both do have a little natural aroma that can be masked or complimented by the addition of Essential Oil. The inclusion of Essential Oil in your massage blend is totally optional though, the natural aromas of Brahmi and Argan are present, but not necessarily unpleasant. Once you dilute Brahmi or Argan into a carrier oil, their characteristic aromas may become totally drowned out.
Both Oils can be used at full strength, or diluted in a Carrier Oil. Id recommend adding at least 25% of each Oil to your total recipe. In a 16 oz. bottle, that would mean 4 oz. Brahmi, 4 oz. Argan, and 8 oz. of your chosen Carrier Oil. You can add more or less according to your personal tastes, but that would be a good starting point.
