Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. Chocolate is always appreciated, but why not whip up a batch of these gorgeous bath melts for your beloved instead? The romantic aroma of Rose Otto Essential Oil, blended with the luscious scent of Cocoa Butter will have your darling melting.
These sweet little melts are sprinkled with our gorgeous Himalayan Pink Salt, and stiffened with a pinch of hydrogenated Jojoba. They are firm at room temperature, but begin melting immediately on contact with hot water, filling the tub with rich, moisturizing bath oil.
We used a silicone heart-shaped ice cube tray to make our melts, but you don't need a fancy mold to create them at home. Pour them in to an 4 – 6 ounce baking dish, then cut them into squares after the cool.
Cocoa Rose Bath Melts
Makes about 5 ounces, or ten 1/2 ounce melts
- 4 ounces Himalayan Pink Salt, Medium
- 1 1/2 ounces Mango Butter or Murumuru Butter
- 1/2 ounce Cocoa Butter, Pure
- 1 tablespoon Jojoba Esters MP70 or White Jojoba Wax Beads
- 30 – 35 drops Rose Otto Essential Oil*
- Fill the cavities of your mold with Himalayan Pink Salt. You'll have a little more than you need. Let the extra pile up over the top.
- Melt the Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, and Jojoba in a double boiler over high heat.
- Once you are sure that all of the ingredients are completely melted, remove the boiler from the heat, and allow it to cool for thirty seconds, stirring continuously.
- Add the Rose Oil, and stir well.
- Carefully pour the melted mixture into each cavity of your mold. If you have extra, reserve it. You can reheat it, gently, for a second batch.
- Allow the melts to cool and harden completely before attempting to remove them from the mold. 15 minutes in the refrigerator or freezer should do the trick.
Usage and Packaging
These melts are very soft, so it's important to store them in a cool, dry place. During the summer, these melts might need to be reinforced with extra Jojoba. Keep them in an oil proof package. Our Acetate Soap Boxes are perfect! To use, add one melt to warm bath water.

These sound great! Could I use an emulsifier in these, like emulsifying wax?
The Natural Beauty Workshop says
Hi Dana. You could use an emulsifying wax in this recipe, but unfortunately it wouldnt affect the bath melts behavior in the tub very much. It might make it a little bit easier to rinse, but it wouldnt change the melts dispersibility or solubility.
