Carrot Oil is packed with vitamins. The rich beta-carotene content in Carrot Oil gives it an almost surreal yellow/orange hue. When used in formulations, the oil acts as a natural colorant, tinting products with its bold color. Because of Carrot Oil's super saturated color, it's important to use it sparingly in formulations for skin care. This lip balm uses just around 16% Carrot Oil, enough to color the balm and leave a temporary tint on the lips. Like Carrot Oil, Murumuru Butter is rich in Vitamin A, making this lip balm excellent for soothing dry, cracked lips. We used Tangerine Flavor Oil to give this balm a sweet scent, but it would be perfectly delicious if left all-natural and unscented.

Usage & Packaging
This recipe works really well in our Lip Balm Tubes due to its firm texture. The balm will produce a slightly yellow/orange tint when applied to lips.

Is carrot oil interchangeable with carrot seed essential oil?
The Natural Beauty Workshop says
Thanks, Anne-Marie! I love when natural ingredients have extra super powers, like a cute color or a yummy scent.

Hi Christine. Carrot Seed Oil and Carrot Seed Essential Oil are too different in potency to use in place of one another. Carrot Seed Oil is actually made up of Carrot Extract that has been diluted in a Carrier Oil, usually Soybean. The extract is made from carrot root, and contains a ton of beta-carotene, which gives it its signature orange color. Carrot Seed Essential Oil is a pure, steam-distilled oil that is made from Carrot Seeds. Its properties are slightly different, and its potency is much stonger than Carrot Seed Oil. Carrot Seed Essential Oil must be used in very small percentages (around 1 – 3% usually), like an Essential Oil.
