Nothing brings out the natural wave and curl of your hair like a day at the beach. The combination of salt, heat, and humidity naturally teases and tousles your locks. If you're lucky, chance arranges these curls into something out of a swimsuit catalog. Or you might be like me. More often than not, the beach leaves me looking more like a castaway than an ocean goddess. Rather than relying on hairstyle fate, I prefer to take matters into my own hands with a simple salt-water solution made in the comfort of my kitchen. Besides, sometimes you just want to look like you went to the beach without actually going there.
Start by mixing about 1 teaspoon of Sea Salt or Dead Sea Salt into 1 cup of hot water. Mix the salt until it fully dissolves, then transfer it to a spray bottle. (You could also use a mixture of 1/8 cup Dead Sea Brine and 1 cup hot water.) Spritz the salted water onto dry or towel-dry hair and scrunch as it dries. When your hair has dried completely, tease it a little more with your fingers or a wide tooth comb.
You can take this technique even further by adding a few little extras to your mixture. Try including a few drops of your favorite Essential Oil or a tablespoon of Aloe Vera Gel. The gals over at A Beautiful Mess recently shared a tutorial that added coconut oil, conditioner, and hair gel to a saltwater spray.
