You may think that once you’ve smelled one vanilla you’ve smelled them all. The assumption is understandable but far from accurate. Different varieties and batches of aromatic ingredients like Essential Oils, CO2 Extracts, and Absolutes not only vary greatly in scent, but also in texture and solubility as well. Vanilla is an excellent example of this.
Vanilla Oleoresins tend to be very thick, dark, and viscous, containing esters and components that require heat and agitation in order to be blended successfully with oil-based ingredients. You can see an example of this happening in our Murumuru Lotion Bars blog post.
Our newest Vanilla, Organic Vanilla (Bourbon) CO2 Extract, while still viscous, is considerably lighter in color and texture than a typical Vanilla Oleoresin or Vanilla Absolute. This makes it much easier to work with. While you may still need to warm the CO2 to get it moving, you’ll find the task more like moving a mole-hill than a mountain.
Our new Organic Vanilla (Bourbon) CO2 Extract also smells amazing! It has a rich, pure vanilla scent that is simply mouth-watering. You can detect not only the deep musky base notes but the lighter, more floral top notes as well. This is a vanilla worthy of everything from perfume to high end bath and body formulations. The richness and depth of aroma in out Organic Vanilla (Bourbon) CO2 Extract is due to it boasting a whopping 26% vanillin!
This fabulous CO2 Extract smells delightful on its own but also blends wonderfully with other aromatics. Try mixing our Organic Vanilla (Bourbon) CO2 Extract with other natural aromatics like Essential Oils or CO2 Extracts. Wood, citrus, floral, or spice aromas can be used to create particularly lovely scents.
