Citrus Mint Foaming Hand Soap: a simple liquid soap for the kitchen.
Foaming hand soap does the remarkable job of making a fairly simple task even easier. Rather than having to work up a lather the old fashioned way, these clever dispensers pop sudsy soap out ready to go. This comes in handy when folks have their hands full in the kitchen. Sometimes saving an extra moment at the sink can also mean saving dinner!
Foaming hand soap is also a great choice for homes with little kids. While children are still learning the fundamentals of basic hygiene, anything that can simplify or streamline the process can be a big help. Plus, bubbles are really fun.
The formulation involved in crafting a foaming hand soap is simple too. It is basically just a watered down liquid soap. The magic of foaming hand soap really lies in the dispenser. The special pump in a foaming hand soap dispenser is what transforms the thin liquid soap into ready-made sudsy soap bubbles.
You can start off from scratch and make your own foaming hand soap in a similar method to cold process soap making, but for our first post featuring our new foaming soap dispenser we decided to keep things as simple as possible. Liquid Castile soap makes an excellent base for foaming hand soap. It has very few ingredients to begin with, and a thin, watery texture that dilutes easily.
We chose to scent our soap with a refreshing blend of sweet orange and peppermint, but you can substitute any skin-safe essential oils you like. Or, try experimenting with one of our Plant-Based Fragrance Oils instead. You can even change the color of this recipe by adding a few drops of liquid dye.
About the Ingredients
Liquid Castile Soap
Liquid Castile is a simple liquid soap made from olive oil. It serves as a simple blank canvas for soap-based recipes, or as an additive in scrubs, cleansers, or masks. Liquid Castile Soap can act as a natural emulsifier in body mist or spray recipes. The small amount of soap allows lipids or essential oils to distribute easily throughout the liquid base where they would typically not mix.
Peppermint Essential Oil
The fresh, minty aroma of peppermint shines bright in essential oil form. A classic ingredient for lip balms, foot lotions, and scalp rinses, peppermint essential oil can add vibrance and character to a broad range of formulations. In certain products, peppermint essential oil can also impart a cool, tingling sensation.
Sweet Orange Essential Oil
Bright, cheerful, and bursting with aroma, our Sweet Orange Essential Oil lays a juicy foundation for our wax melts recipe. In aromatherapy, Sweet Orange Essential Oil is often used to lift spirits and promote a sense of relaxation.
